LA LA LAND.

I love everything that happened in La La Land. I understand why it ended the way it did. When you have an ambition carried from the beginning of your early vision, you don't question anyone's choice to step aside from it for you to go on. You respect the decision. Because that's true love. Only the one that cares will argue with you about your dream and the way you want to achieve it. It's that same one person who will fight when you give up and be happy when your dream finally comes true. There's no such love that grounds two people to a less desired life. It's only love when it lifts people up.

This movie is different from other romances because it's the instilled version of all sophisticated love, executed with excellent cinematography and memorable music. La La Land is true because I see myself in Mia and I have been with a Sebastian to know how hard it is to maintain a relationship between two ambitious individuals. Though it's been years, I know at heart I've had a very true partnership.

The kind of relationship of Mia and Sebastian leaves no regret to me. Do I think they had a chance to make it together? Yes. But the success wouldn't have been so great. That's the biggest point. I'll never want a piece of a dream. I want all of it and no other ways around.

As I left the theater, I thought "That was a very healthy relationship, wasn't it?" Will a movie made of a been-there-done-that story win an Oscar or two? I don't see why not. It's not the best movie I've seen but it's the one that sells the most.

THE CONTEXT OF WHAT.

I don't understand. I don't think I understand the context of love. In fact, I'm sure I've never been in love.
A lot of my relationships were based on total affection. Someone liked the idea of one another's and suddenly we found each other bonded in a relationship. I've never said the three words to anyone. It's easy to speak when the love is real. It's dead mute when it doesn't exist.
However, I'm sure that there were days I loved them as there were also days I chose to love myself more. After a long time of expecting my ideal love to happen, I decided I was done with it. I shortened the time that should have been spent on getting to know the person, demanded straightaway what I wanted, and expressed severe reactions when they couldn't live up to my requests. What I was left with, is now.
Now, I doubt people. It seems difficult to trust the smallest gesture. I find interest in lust, flirting and conversations at night. Lust is lust. It's a one-time thing even if it hits twice. Flirting sounds so not delight, yet the core of the act is it. Conversation is the most important thing. It connects two minds. If I'm not careful, I'll find myself falling slowly.. fast. It'll be impossible to stay sane. That's when I seek for a dark corner and a familiar drink to murder the butterflies in my stomach and erase the feelings that I feel. I can't allow myself to be in love. That destructive thing brings joy to people's life so just one day, it takes away everything they've ever had. The getting-back-to-track life is torture.
I have feelings for someone that's supposed to be an one-time thing. And I also have a dear feeling towards someone I hope to befriend with. Clearly I put myself in troubles in a blink of an eye. I need to speak straight to the first person all at once so I can set myself free. And, I don't know, should I befriend with the second person or not? In my teenage years, boys were problems of hair pulling and unwanted back stickers. In my twenties, guys are butterflies in my stomach and virus to my brain.
Whatever happens, I should thank them for the inspirations to write. For the midnight snacks, warm Earl Grey, and arms when needed.
In my mind, my prince wears suits, or at least a white shirt, has a proper helmet, and reads more than I do. He must be a big fan of animals, and never hesitates to take up a new sport. He cooks and wakes up earlier than me. He likes Wes Anderson and watches Quentin Tarantino. But puts Breakfast at Tiffany's first because I've never watched it and I should. He listens to me and understands my ideas without speaking a word. I must feel truly myself when I'm with him. In short, my prince dresses properly and knows his priorities. I believe what I've stated sounds very funny. Truth to be told, I've always had that idea of him since I was nine or ten.
I saw a man in a suit and a pair of oxfords today driving a Ducati. Needless to say, I was sold. Maybe we'll bump into each other soon. Maybe not. For now, all I can do is staying single firmly and confidently because I'm the best when I'm with myself. I shall let the future be decided in the hands of God.

MOVIE LIST FOR MOVIE DAY.

What happened on my movie day?

Last Sunday was my personal treat with a movie list of four. I began the morning at 12, having the ideal breakfast, scrambled egg with a glass of iced water, and dipped myself into Coco & Igor. I wouldn't say it was among the best movies I've watched. It's even somewhere near the bottom. But the movie did stir my sense of fashion and interest in Coco Chanel, which had never happened to me before. My issue with Coco & Igor is that the movie was flat. The music wasn't memorable. The costumes were predictable. What it did was giving me an impression of Coco, which is a combination of independence and decisiveness I've had the occasion to know, something cold on the outside and stormy, full of passion on the inside.

I'm about to become the same.
And stay late at the studio the same.
Isn't this romantic? Btw, Igor was led by Hannibal.

I then washed my brain with What We Do in The Shadows. I'd watched this movie before and every time was hilarious. It's witty, carefree and silly. The costumes were beautiful and the actors were charming. You'll find it quirky at first, then normal as human after ten minutes. In my point of view, those vampires were even better than the human I know. I have not much to say about this movie. It's too good every one should watch.

Like I said, they were quirky and normal af.
I like this guy the most. He was so nice and fun.
Look at that. Come on.
Vampires with class.

At 6:30, I made myself some tea and fries for Frank. It's about a young man desiring to find his core in writing music but ended up re-defining someone else's. An eccentric band, in particular. A group of weird people led by Frank, who always wore a big costume head even when he ate and took a shower. The young man's name was Jon. Jon played keyboard and quit his job to stay with the band for a year to write an album. They were so closed to be famous, so closed that it almost ruined everything. But Jon fixed it in the end. I'll spoil you with the fact that Frank will remove the big head and you'll get to see his quite handsome face, you won't find this detail the best in this movie though. There's no bar to tell whether Frank is good or bad, just eccentric enough to watch.

You know they made such a movie just by looking at them.
That head haunted me.
That mouth. No, you won't be able to delete it.
I still don't get Frank's vibe in music.

10:30 and I switched to Only Lovers Left Alive. My kind of movie, everyone. This movie is about an artistic, sophisticated vampire couple led by Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston. The woman, Eve, lived in Tangier, Morocco and the man, Adam, lived in Detroit, America. Eve reunited with her depressed musician husband just so as to leave Detroit without any plans due to a bloody incident and get back to Tangier. Here, Eve and Adam went thirsty. After giving up Adam's source of type-O-negative blood in America and learning that Eve's source had run out for getting polluted, they were closed to give up on a pavement of a street. What happened next was between romantic and not so romantic. Wasn't bloody at all. I like Only Lovers Left Alive for its cast, costumes, locations and script. So you can start with this one first before the rest.

Now that's what I'm talking about.
Everything was beautifully and meticulously thought of.
Romantic enough for me.
The cast, my dear, the cast.
I can do this all day. Look at her coat. Look at the color.
I'm Eve in Only Lovers Left Alive. I'm still more like Wednesday in Adams Family, of course.

Here's my rank of last Sunday:

1. Only Lovers Left Alive.
2. What We Do in The Shadows.
3. Frank.
4. Coco & Igor.

Now, I'll let my dry eyes rest and dream of Tangier. If you want to listen to some good music after chilling with those four above, I can give you Bethena: A Concert Waltz from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Joplin wrote this after his wife died. I'll quote some of my favorite lines from the movie for you:
Some people were born to sit by a river. Some get struck by lightning. Some have an ear for music. Some are artists. Some swim. Some know buttons. Some know Shakespeare. Some are mothers. And some people, dance.

RETRO FREAK SHOW.

I received questions on my Tumblr. Good day. Also, I'm watching The Atticus Institute, quite like a retro freak show documentary. The only exorcism case that was recognized by the government of The United States. I only caught 15 minutes of it, will hunt it down later. Meanwhile.

THE DAY 'MIDNIGHT IN PARIS' WAS DEFEATED.

I'd been having this nervous feeling about my future in the next couple of months. Though I knew worrying about something unpredictable was worthless and I could miss the chance to enjoy the very moment, I still found reasons to overthink. That was why I reached out to my close friend, an engineering student, for help. He and I are extremely different, yet the same. I enjoyed talking logics with him and in return, he gave me movie suggestions. Actually, that means I received all. Most of his advices worked like a charm. I watched Chef already so The Princess Bride was my first go-to. It was hell of a corny movie, foolish and adorable, especially Westly. Then I skipped Ex Machina as I'm not a big fan of robotic movies, unless it's stupid, otherwise I'll choose to watch something else. Suddenly, I remember there was this movie I really wanted to watch but always missed the chance. Scent of A Woman. The scene of Al Pacino tangoing with a beautiful brunett woman haunted me, and the melody of Por Una Cabeza flew in my mind gracefully. After two hours and a half, Scent of A Woman became the most beautiful, meaningful movie I've ever watched. It even won over Midnight in Paris. I'm lost of words to describe any further and I can't wait to watch more of middle-age Al Pacino. I should mention Martin Brest is the director, but I didn't find his other movies interesting. Clearly, I judged the book by its cover. And clearly, I believe in my intuition as well.

I think I'll watch Scent of A Woman again.
